Uplands School is proud that year upon year our students have attained IGCSE and IB Diploma results that are consistently higher than global averages, some of our students have become part of the small number in the world to achieve a perfect score of 45 points in the IB Diploma; a few of these exceptional students go on to receive full university scholarships based on their achievements.
School culture revolves around our motto: Respect for self; respect for others. Uplands events such as Environmental Week, Respect Week, Book Week and cultural and major drama productions all serve to reinforce universal values in all students; inter-school sporting & athletic events between local and international schools also help to build character and forge friendships beyond borders.

School Community
We are very proud of our international School community, made up of students, parents, teaching and non teaching staff and the School board of governors. Throughout the academic year, social and community events are organised to bring the community together, have fun and support the School, such as International Food Fairs, Art Auctions and Car Boot Sales. Members of the Uplands Parent Teacher Association - UPTA are very active in these events and help to raise funds to support sporting or extra curricular student activities. They also organise activities for parents during school hours.
A Truly International Community
Uplands students take great satisfaction in being members of a truly international community. With a largely expatriate staff of some 70 teachers and a medium size student body of 600 from 35 nationalities, the School has maintained its character as a small friendly community with strong common goals, a very favourable 9:1 student-teacher ratio and well managed classes (maximum 24).
Academic Staff
Uplands School employs 62 full-time and 8 part-time teachers. The teaching staff represent 14 nationalities.
The Campus at Batu Feringgi
Purpose-built on a pleasant hill overlooking a beachfront, the new 4-acre site is conveniently situated in the developing resort township of Batu Feringgi.
The modern campus is fully networked with wireless access while a beautiful courtyard garden accentuates its peaceful surroundings conducive to learning.
The five main blocks are inter-connected with seamless corridors that have been designed to provide greater security for students and staff, its compactness affording easier intercommunication and movement on campus.
Intensive Language Centre
There is an Intensive Language Centre (ILC) which caters for a limited number of students.
Learning Support and Pastoral Care
The Learning Support Department aims to support those students who, for a variety of reasons (academic, social, emotional, physical), are struggling to meet the demands of the mainstream curriculum.
The School is governed by a 16 member Board of Governors. A Management Committee meets at regular intervals throughout the year. This sub-committee comprises members of the Board together with the Principal, Deputy Principals, Director of Administration and the Accountant.
Further sub-committees are the Development Sub-committee, Trustee Sub-committee, The Education Sub-committee and the Finance and Audit Sub-committee.
